I Would Like To Introduce You To IMOTIME

Eric Masters has a unique skill of turning just about anything into a clock! Eric is a charming, warm, and funny Etsy seller, and I'm proud to introduce you to him.

How did you get started with your art or craft?

I saw a segment on a tv show (can't remember quite which one) where a lady made a clock from a cake cover. I thought that was cool, so I tried it, and loved it, and now everything looks like a clock to me. (that lady; martha stewart)

What do you find the most satisfying about your creations?

It is hard to put words to it, but I when I look at a new clock I think "Someone is gonna think this is the coolest clock he or she has ever seen!" and that makes me feel, um, very satisfied.

What do you find the most difficult about selling your items?

Promotion. I used to list on another site that has four letters and starts with e and ends with y, but I got so few views..
I need to find a way to get the word out.

How about sharing one time-saving or eco-friendly tip with the readers?

You can make a crazy fun clock yourself, at home, out of any old clock you have, and any fun object.
A new, fabulous clock can be made from things you have right now! records, can from canned ham, roller blades, etc.

Tell us a little about your personal life - married, children, pets, hobbies other than your art, favorite food, place, activities - whatever you want to share.

I am a major hermit. I lost my boyfriend 9 years ago, and basically crawled into a hole and have been there the whole time. This venture is the first time I have made big moves to be dependent and 'alive' again, and Etsy is being a big and fun and friendly part of my journey. I have one dog, Pearl, who is a gem. I lived in Japan for 7 years in the 90's. Love all food! San DIego is great because of all of the yummy and authentic Mexican food.

Share a favorite quote or thought with us.

I hold it true, whate'er befall;
I feel it, when I sorrow most;
'Tis better to have loved and lost
Than never to have loved at all. From Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem In Memoriam:27, 1850

Do you have a "day" job? Something other than your etsy store to pay the bills?

Working on that. Anyone want to buy a clock?

Show us your two favorite pieces, and tell us why they are your favorite (don't forget a link).

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=10419487 this is so freaky that I don't even want to let it go! this is me.

http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=9634137 exit sign clock. i bought a stack of these on a lark.. they have turned out to be big sellers and big fun.

What inspires you?

Realizing that something so fun can be 'work'

How did you become involved with Etsy?

My dear friend Jeanne B.

What is unique or special about your work?

I think that lack of numbers and randomness of items is my favorite part. nothing 'usual'

What do you like most about your work? What is most challenging?

I love the wonderful feeling of validation and warmth when people tell me they like my clocks! Challenging, trying to make this work! message image
